I laid before the Marquess of Salisbury your

of the 8th instant transmitting a

copy of a despatch from the Governor of Hongkong en

the subject of the protection of the Basle Mission

Station at Li Long.

I am to inform you that Lord Salisbury concurs

in the proposal of the Secretary of State for the

Colonies to approve Sir H. Blake's action in regard

to this matter, as reported in his despatch.
